North Cobb 2017 Spring Athlete of the Year: Fan Poll

Follow this link to cast your VOTE:

Baseball Nomination:

Senior – Andrew Greckel

Andrew is among the top 5 in Cobb County in batting average, stolen bases and runs scored.  He would also be a leader in On Base Percentage if they tracked that.  As a lead-off hitter set the tone for the team all year.  If you saw him battle through leg cramps at Camden County you would know how much he loves the game and how much he meant to our team.  He has signed with Chattahoochee Valley CC, one of the top JUCOs in the nation.

Girls Lacrosse Nomination:

Junior – Peyton Hayes

Peyton is a great player on the field, playing both defense and middie. She is one of the leaders on the field in recovering ground balls and draw controls, but she also leads the team in other ways. She loves to mentor the younger players and is often on the sidelines for JV games cheering and offering support. Not only is she a great player and motivator, but she is hitting the books too, with a 4.421 GPA.

Boys Lacrosse Nomination:

Senior – Nash Johnson

Nash has scored 45 goals to lead us to the playoffs for the first time in school history.  When Nash is playing we feel very confident that we’re going to win any game we’re in even if we’re down at the half. He’s been a leader on and off the field. Nash has committed to play lacrosse for Tusculum College.

Girls Soccer Nomination:

Sophomore – Julia Snyder

Julia was the absolute workhorse for the 2017 season. She never missed a practice, played every minute of every game, never complained, and always gave 110% effort. She could adjust and play any position on the field because the smart teams would double-team her at all times. She managed to score 5 goals this season while having minimal playing time at forward because she was also the impact player on defense. Julia Snyder is the epitome of a student-athlete and coachable player.

Boys Soccer Nomination:

Senior – Michael Vollbracht

Michael has gone above and beyond the call all three years for NCHS as both a student and an athlete. As a Senior (Team Captain) he has been the backbone of the defense and the team. His leadership has been instrumental in the high level of moral, and discipline exhibited by the 2017 squad. He will receive the 2017 MVP award and Defensive player of the year. Michael has maintained over a 4.00 GPA while in the Magnet program at North Cobb and will be attending UNC at Chapel Hill in the next fall.

Girls Golf Nomination:

Senior – Kierra McIntyre

Kierra is a four year member of the North Cobb Girl’s Golf team. She is a two sport athlete who also ran track all four years. Kierra has consistently been in the top two in scoring for the girl’s golf team. Kierra shot the lowest score for North Cobb at the 2017 Area Golf tournament and will be attending Georgia State University in the Fall.

Boys Golf Nomination:

As a freshman, Bea showed her dedication to the team by playing through an injury to secure the win for our team to advance to the Elite 8. Bea currently has a 4.125 GPA.
